“..Sorry I forgot about him. He is not even standing, he doesn’t want to be seen,” Jessica Pegula said playfully about her husband after her semifinal victory in New York! Raised in Williamsville, Taylor Gahagen has been a constant presence in Pegula’s life since 2015, when they were first linked together! Now, Pegula is on the verge of making a giant step in her career by aiming for her first Grand Slam title, and fans are curious about the man behind the star and about his interesting connection to Pegula’s father’s business!

Coming from a suburb of Buffalo in New York, much like Jessica Pegula, Gahagen developed a keen interest in baseball (as an infielder) during his college. A graduate (2011) of SUNY Fredonia with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Taylor also played hockey (graduate assistant) while pursuing an MBA at Canisius College. However, in 2013, he stepped into the professional world and joined Pegula’s father, Terry’s venture, ‘Pegula Sports and Entertainment,’ which manages the Buffalo Bills (NFL) and Buffalo Sabres (NHL). There, he aimed to “bring an estimated 500, 000 visitors to Buffalo annually,” as per SUNY Fredonia’s statement in 2014. 

Pegula’s husband, who enjoyed serving different roles for the company like marketing manager, corporate development director, and coordinator of digital and promotions, said in 2016, “I don’t think there’s anywhere else I would want to work. It’s so exciting. I think everybody’s talked about the opportunity in the area and the opportunity for Buffalo and the pride of Buffalo is bar none. Raising the profile of Buffalo on a national, international, global scale is what’s most exciting.”

It was around this time that Pegula started going on dates with Gahagen and posted a few glimpses of those dates on her Instagram, one of which was a picture of their musical ‘Hamilton’ date in New York. Pegula, who was first seen wearing a ring in 2019, finally decided to marry in 2020. But the COVID-19 pandemic halted their plans, and the duo finally had their dream wedding in October 2021, in Asheville, North Carolina. 

Two years later in 2023, Jessica Pegula’s husband called it quits on working for Terry and instead started working as a Managing Partner at Dragos Capital and Agarwood Wealth. Furthermore, he holds key roles in Pegula’s businesses as he is the Vice President of the skincare company Ready 24 and President of charity A Lending Paw, which trains rescue dogs as service animals. However, besides their professional achievements, their vacation stories make for some funny moments between the duo!

During an interview with WTA last year, the World No. 6 shared stories about their honeymoon to Costa Rica. Mentioning how they approach things differently in life, Pegula revealed that after finishing up at the Wimbledon championships, where she reached the quarterfinals, they went on a “fun” and “amazing” trip!

“We want to go back so bad because it was just the best experience with people, the food, the lifestyle, was so much fun. But I am very adventurous, so I was actually waterfall rappelling down like a massive waterfall. I don’t know if that was the smartest thing to do, um, but my husband is not adventurous at all, so he didn’t even go,” Pegula said.

Pegula went ahead and enjoyed herself while Taylor waited for her to return with the tour guides. Talking about adventure though, Jessica is now on an adventurous trip in the tennis world, as she is ready to take on Aryna Sabalenka in the US Open final and Taylor will be right by her side, supporting her with every ace, volley, and triumph!
