When it comes to retirement, a lot of tennis players go with their bodies and their forms, which usually stop them from playing tennis. But for the 27-year-old tennis player, last year she opened up about how, to achieve motherhood, she has already planned on a lot of things shortly.

A few months ago, when the former 10th-ranked tennis player was named GQ Brazil’s “Woman of the Year,” and joined the list of elite tennis players including Maria Sharapova and the 23-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams, she made a huge disclosure regarding how she wants to embrace motherhood, after a certain time, of leaving the sport behind.

She stated, “I want to be a mom. So I plan to compete for another decade. Motherhood is a dream and it will directly affect the retirement decision.” While she clearly highlighted that she has plans to complete for around a decade or so, if motherhood comes in her way, it will definitely change the flow of retirement plans.

However, on the other hand, looking into other tennis players and how their careers might be affected might create a hurdle for her. Last year, subsequently, there was a time when she faced injuries, creating a distressed environment around her and a hope to continue her fight on the tennis circuit.

When an injury left Haddad Maia in tears

Last year, the Brazilian tennis player was forced to retire during her 4th-round clash against Elena Rybakina. In between the match, she broke down into tears as her impressive campaign at Wimbledon came to an unfortunate end with an injury. Even though she was fighting hard against Rybakina, the match took a turn for the worse when she let out a loud cry of pain during a backhand in the middle of the opening set.

She gave it her all to win the match and get to the quarterfinals, but in the end, she had to retire midway through to need medical attention. However, she has everything planned out, including retirement and the athletes’ finest moments of their careers—things that are typically unplanned.
