Emma Raducanu has been making the headlines for almost always controversial reasons this year. Despite efforts to restore her lost form, the Briton tasted modest success; until an unexpected injury hit her at the Korea Open. With no recent triumphs recorded on tour-level events, the last thing Raducanu needed was a setback with her dream car company, Porsche.
The 2021 US Open champion was embroiled in alarming speculations after her lucrative deal with the German manufacturer was rumored to be on the outs. Raducanu’s associate also confirmed that “Emma no longer has a Porsche. They took it back. It used to have pride of place at her home.” However, the worrisome update later exhibited moments of relief. In a classic turn of events, it was revealed by a Porsche spokesperson that the automobile was never indefinitely given to the Briton, but instead on an ad-hoc basis. “While we do on occasion loan Emma a car, this is very much on an ad hoc basis,” the spokesperson said.
Notably, another Porsche executive cited that Raducanu is the “global brand ambassador for Porsche. There have not been any changes within our successful partnership since it started in 2022. We are very happy with our partnership.” While fans remained skeptical about her standing with the sportscar giant, the former World No. 10 took over the reins and stomped on rumors with a clean move.
