Doubt is something that clouds the mind of a professional in every field. The American teenage sensation, Coco Gauff, is experiencing it right now. After defeating Venus Williams when she was just 15, Gauff would’ve imagined that she would climb the ranks and demolish records. But her performance over the past few months leaves more to be desired. Gauff recently updated how she was mentally preparing after her Stuttgart Open stint.

Coco Gauff opens up about her poor form

Impostor syndrome is something that strikes everyone once in their life. However, the greatest players have been able to overcome their doubts and triumph in their fields. The American sensation Coco Gauff is someone who was recently stuck with impostor syndrome after a series of worrisome performances.

In a recent interview, Gauff revealed how she feels about her form on the court. Last year around this time, she remembers feeling terrible about her game. She said, Um, I’ll be honest last year around this time, I felt terrible about my game and everything, um, so I am feeling better when it comes to that aspect, um, I mean physically, I, I feel like I’m always feeling great.”

She added that even though her form currently is still not as great as it should be; she has seen some improvement and aims to carry it to Roland Garros.

Mentally yeah I feel like I’m in a better place I mean Stuttgart even though I didn’t go how I wanted and it’s one step better than last year so somewhat of an improvement, but my focus really is uh I guess before Roland Garros is really on these two tournaments Madrid and Rome and seeing how I can continue to get better before I’m at French Open.”

Is the American sensation in a slump?

In an exclusive with the WTA, Gauff talked about how she experienced Impostor syndrome after her suffering from poor in the past few events. She talked about how she is experiencing the phenomena and works on getting over it as soon as she can. She understands that it is inevitable, but she also knows that she deserves the rank she has.
