Spanish tennis beauty, Paula Badosa has seen massive ups and downs in her tennis career. While injuries have taken a toll on her recently, she was a player to watch out for until a few months ago. The former Indian Wells champion has earned nearly $6 Million throughout her tennis career. Additionally, she also has three singles titles to her credit, while achieving a career-high ranking of 2. Despite tremendous success, the 25-year-old revealed a saddening memory from the past.
Badosa grew up in a humble background and had to toil hard early in her career. Here’s what she said about her struggles in her tennis career.
Paula Badosa opens up on managing her finances

Recently, the Spanish star was involved in an interview with WTA where she talked about her career, and struggles while growing up and supporting her sister. During this interview, she revealed how she managed her finances as tennis was an expensive sport.
Talking about it, she said, “I’ve always been very aware, I know how tough it is to be a professional tennis player and how expensive it is, you know and it’s not for everyone and I come from a very humble family. I always have have been very independent so I never wanted them to help me so when I was 15 already I started like to deal with my own financial part and started to learn from it as well.”
Further, she went on to add, “Of course I was struggling with expenses and everything but I was doing it by my own because I didn’t want them to carry that weight on their shoulders. That first years until I broke into the top 100 I was stressed and worried about it because I was doing it by myself.”
Badosa has never shied away from talking about the financial part of things. Earlier this year, she made a witty response on this matter.

When Badosa wanted to earn more than her ex-boyfriend
During the Mutua Madrid Open this year, Badosa’s ex-boyfriend, David Broncano, attended her matches. To return the favor, she attended his show. During the show, Badosa was asked about her earnings and comparisons with her former boyfriend. Talking about this, Mayuri said, “I’ve always wanted this question a lot. We’ve been making the joke for two or three years and I always said: ‘my dream, my goal is to have more than you’ and, finally, I can say that I have more than you”.

Badosa will look to get over her injuries and make a fresh start to tennis next year. It’ll be interesting to see if she makes a strong comeback and showcases her prime form.
