Despite Her Recent Claims, Evidence Suggests That a Serena Williams Comeback Is Near Impossible to Achieve

Serena Williams had reignited tennis fans’ enthusiasm about her possible return to tennis. Serena continues to tease her fans that they would see her again on the court. However, new sanctions have made her promise difficult to fulfill.

The 23-time Grand Slam world champion informed her fans that she is ‘evolving’ away from the sport after the US Open. She tends to avoid the word retirement in any of her interviews. Serena, who took over the tennis world as a teenager, is considered by many to be the greatest tennis player of all time.

ITIA rules don’t favor a return of Serena Williams

Despite her emotional farewell, Serena has often hinted at her comeback to her professional tennis career. Her promise faces trouble due to the new sanctions by ITIA.

The players named in the new ITIA retired list have stated that they have withdrawn from the sport and cannot return to approved events unless they are ready for an out-of-competition test at least six months before the said event.

 

Both Serena Williams and Roger Federer have entered their name on the retired list of players. He joined the ITIA roster after playing his Laver Cup match with Rafael Nadal. For example, if Williams wanted to enter Wimbledon 2023, she would have to remove herself from the ITIA list by the end of 2022 at the least.

Serena Williams played the last game of her exemplary career at Arthur Ashe Stadium. The thrilling three-hour match drew an average of 4.8 million viewers, making it the most-watched in ESPN’s history. Ratings peaked in the last set of the match, attracting 6.9 million viewers. Serena Williams has won 73 career singles titles, 23 doubles titles and two mixed doubles titles in her 27-year-long career.

Serena focuses on her family post-retirement

The tennis star and businesswoman recently traveled to Mexico. Serena enjoyed her time with her friends and family at a resort, as they were celebrating her niece’s engagement. Since her retirement from the sport, the 23-time Grand Slam champion has been spending time with her family and focusing on her business endeavors.
