Her former hitting partner Jermaine Jenkins, who worked with her for three years, recently disclosed a few life lessons that he picked up from ‘Queen V’.

And these, according to Jenkins, are the driving force of the 42-year-old who is still hitting the tennis court. Having the motivation to push herself at this age definitely calls for some non-negotiable rules that she has set for herself. Consequently, this has become a life lesson for people who admire her.

Former hitting partner reveals some grounding lessons he picked up from Venus Williams

After a nerve-wracking French Open, the grass-court season is just around the corner and Venus Williams is all set to thrill her fans. However, given the intensity of the sport she is involved in, Venus Williams would not have been here, had it not been for a few things that have shaped her resilient mindset.

The former hitting partner of the tennis star, Jermaine Jenkins, in a podcast, Baseline Intelligence, disclosed some life lessons that he learned from Venus Williams. He stated, “So many things. I think one, it’s just the mentality, what it really truly means to be a professional.”

It did not matter what was going on in her personal or professional life; she kept her professionalism on. He added, “I just remember that certain things that are non-negotiable for Venus. No matter where she is, she’s gotta work on her serve, she’s gonna work on her returns.”

Even now when Williams travels to different places, she makes sure to work on her fitness and training regimen. Jenkins stated, “I remember traveling with her where she had other business meetings. She would also make sure that she can get her work in.”

Time or weather did not concern the seven-time Grand Slam champion. Venus hit the training session without fail. Jenkins reminisced, “Even if it’s 4 o’clock in the morning, sometimes before you catch your flight. She taught me that every little bit counts and every little bit adds up.”

Taking small steps has helped Venus to make her comeback

As revealed by Jenkins, taking such small initiatives to keep her fitness has helped Venus Williams to continue pursuing her passion even now. Jenkins also mentioned, “And I would say no. 2 was the importance of routine and she had a set routine where she would practice things specifically.”

Although routine is still an integral part of Venus’ life, she does not mind spicing it up a bit with her goofiness.

Venus has finally made her comeback at the Libbema Open. This will officially start her grass-court run. She will be facing 17-year-old Celine Naef in the first round.
