While an emotional Serena Williams announced her retirement, the whole world joined her as her fans could not stop themselves from reacting to this dreadful moment.

Shedding light on the same, the former coach of Serena Williams, Eric Hechtman, in an exclusive interview, gave his opinion on a perfect ending to an illustrious career for the American legend. While suggesting the roller coaster of emotions that the sport drives, he suggested that her ending was bittersweet.

In an exclusive interview, Eric Hechtman offered his insights into the emotional atmosphere surrounding Serena Williams’ farewell from the sport. He suggested that tennis is an emotional roller coaster. He further added there comes a point in a player’s life when they are only focused on winning more titles and trophies. However, reflecting on the moment, he suggested that it was ‘wild’.

Hechtman further went ahead to add that throughout Williams’ career, her family has been very supportive, including her husband and even her sister Venus Williams, who was present on the day when Serena Williams announced her retirement from the sport. He suggested that she is a blessed woman as she has everyone by her side.

“Yeah, I mean, of course, sports is an emotional roller coaster. You know, when you when you’re in the middle of it, maybe not as much because you’re so focused on winning, you know, one moment at a time, one point at a time. But yeah, it was wild. I mean, she, you know, she’s a blessed woman,” said Hechtman in the interview.

She’s got so much support from her husband and her family. And so it was nice to see everybody there, including Venus supporting her. So it was, you know, bittersweet way to end, but all in all, you know, it was a great way,” he further added.

Thus, the moment when Serena Williams announced her retirement from the sport was a very emotional moment for everyone. Not only did the former world number 1 go emotional but the whole world cried alongside one of the legends of the game.

However, months after announcing her retirement from the sport, Serena Williams went ahead and suggested that her decision to retire from the sport hadn’t done justice to her.

Serena Williams believes her retirement from the sport has torn her

In an interview earlier this year, Serena Williams, who has retired from the sport said that she believes that there is a lot of professional tennis that remains in her. She suggested that she wanted to end her career on a very high level and that she could still play professionally.

Williams added that her decision to retire from the game has torn her. “It’s interesting. I think I feel torn because I’m still able to play at a very, very, very high level,” she said. “With that being said, I always wanted to leave the game playing at a very high level.”

Thus, despite causing havoc on the tennis court throughout her life as a professional player, Serena  Williams believed that there was a lot of tennis left in her, despite her retirement from the sport.
