Tennis megastar and global cultural icon Serena Williams has an emotional morning ahead of her. Earlier today, The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences nominated ‘King Richard’ for six Oscars.
‘King Richard’, a biographical drama produced by both Venus and Serena, tells the story of the sisters in their rise to superstardom. They faced incredible odds but their father Richard Williams always stood defiant against those odds to help his daughters reach where they are today.
In fact, both Venus and Serena Williams wanted to present their story from their father’s perspective. Hence, that explains why the movie’s title is King Richard, which was a nickname for their father.
