It was a surprise and shock to tennis fans that the USTA decided to exclude Simona Halep from this year’s US Open. The removal of Halep from the list of players has left many puzzled and curious, given her impressive record as a Grand Slam champion. Taking her place now in the main draw is the American Taylor Townsend, who will be carrying the hopes of the home crowd.
In the upcoming Eurosport Romania interview, a part of which has already been shared, Simona Halep openly talked about her encounter with the doping issue and the difficulties she confronted afterward. She talked about how difficult the time had been for her and lauded her lawyers for their excellent guidance on the difficult case, “There, at the hearings, my team was extraordinary together with all the experts we had… They were strong and my defense was very good. The truth, it’s always easier when you tell the truth and I felt that everything was going to be fine.”
But Halep’s concerns do not end here. She also expressed her frustration about the long time it took for the decision to be made – leaving her hanging in the midst of the legal battle.
Halep’s resilience through adversity
Halep expected to receive the decision much more quickly, at par with the regulation’s three weeks. She expressed her dissatisfaction at the prolonged delay, saying, “It’s already been two months and I have received absolutely no news about the decision.” But even with her disappointment, she continues to show her dedication to her fans and her sport through her social media posts, where she talks about her determination to get back to playing.
