Either Sofia Kenin or Cristina Bucsa will be the opponents of the 25-year-old tennis player as she starts her Italian Open campaign. And prior to the competition, she was questioned about becoming the next Serena Williams in terms of her power play during a press conference.  She was also questioned about whether she emulates Williams on the tennis court because only she has the strength and power to serve and return like a man after Williams.

She said, “I don’t know. I don’t think about that. That sounds good, you know (smiling)? I don’t know, I’m not thinking about that, I’m not focusing on that. I’m just focusing on improving myself and getting better every day. Yeah, that’s it. I’m not really thinking about that. It sounds crazy and it sounds good to be really strong (smiling).”

Sabalenka responded with a deft response. The 2023 Australian Open winner emphasized that she is not trying to replace Williams. Either that or she isn’t concentrating on imitating the American tennis legend. Although it was flattering to be compared in terms of strength and power to the 41-year-old former player.
