The Chinese star first sensed the dramatic turn in her career during the US Open. Unfortunately for her, he could not soak in the joy of reaching a maiden Grand Slam quarter-final. Reason? I understand his decision, but it doesn?t mean I will forgive him.”?In a recent move, the Chinese superstar buried all the bygones for good.

She also unfollowed the German on Instagram; it is almost like that chapter in life never happened. On Twitter (now X), the tennis reporter wrote, “Zheng Qinwen deleted all pictures with Wim Fissette and unfollowed him on Ins.”

The tennis writer also pointed out how the Chinese top seed leaves no stone unturned in standing by her words. The post further read, “She is really putting “I understand his decision but that doesn’t mean I will forgive him” into action. Gauff’s unprecedented growth is a universal knowledge, and the World No.19 might not have expected such a leap for Riba. Zheng put her faith in Fissette, who previously coached the Grand Slam champions Kim Clijsters, Victoria Azarenka, and Angelique Kerber, besides a former World No.1 whose career witnessed a tragic fall due to a doping ban.

Fissette coached Simona Halep, too, before Patrick Mouratoglou took over. The track record of the German coach is impressive, and Zheng has significant goals to achieve. Despite her rapid growth, the WTA champion feels she is behind her peers and has many steps to climb. Fissette’s decision to breach the contract and leave her hanging at the peak of her career for another top-ranked player devastated Zheng. Her former coaches are now associated with Grand Slam champions, and Zheng is left alone in the middle of a desert.
