The world-ranked 6th-ranked tennis player had an emotional breakdown during the second set of the quarterfinal match at the Abu Dhabi Open. While she was broken in the first game itself of the second set, she recovered quickly, but in the midway, she was seen in tears, possibly because of an injury or some physical discomfort.
After that, in a post-match press conference, she opened up about how she vented out her emotions rather than hiding them. She said, “I honestly don’t think about it much. I’m an open book, an emotional person. I like to show myself. One thing I have learned is to accept the emotion, and if I try to hide it, it will not make me feel good. So it’s good to let it out and be done with it than to keep it inside and probably will make more problems for you later.”
Subsequently, she also detailed how she didn’t really care much about sharing out her emotions in public, as she is quite an open book and doesn’t like to hide anything. Along with that, she stated, “So for me, I really try to be myself, really try to show myself to the crowd and connect with them in the most visible way.”
Not only that, Jabeur also highlighted how, in this way, she can also try to connect with the crowd in a more visible manner, sharing a genuine equation. However, a few months before, the 29-year-old tennis player was moved to tears after receiving a heartfelt gesture from Andy Roddick.

When Roddick moved Jabeur to tears
Following his run to the Wimbledon final the previous year, the American Grand Slam champion got in touch with Jabeur to express his admiration for the Tunisian player’s contribution to the tennis community. He spoke with sympathy and a deep understanding of the challenges and tensions that come with playing tennis, as someone who has experienced the option down.
The sixth-ranked person in the world was moved by the message and even shared her feelings, shedding tears as she read it. She said, “Obviously I was crying, you know, happy crying.. I appreciate that he took the time to write a good long message. I’ll talk to him when I see him, probably at US Open.” However, it wouldn’t be wrong to say that whether it be happiness or tears, she never tries to hide it from her fan.
