The partnership between Dayana Yastremska and coach Sascha Bajin started fruitfully, as both of them showed great chemistry with each other. However, the year 2020 led to unexpected results. While the tennis season faced completely unpredictable disruptions due to the pandemic, Yastremska faced Naomi Osaka and lost.

Things took an unexpected turn when Dayana publicly expressed her dissatisfaction on X after Sascha congratulated Naomi Osaka on defeating her at the Western & Southern Open. In a shocking statement on X, she announced, “I would like to announce that after the US Open, I decided to stop my cooperation with Sasha Bajin. I want to thank him for everything and wish him good luck! It was a good experience for me.”

The decision to part ways resulted in questions about the dynamics between the two. The best result of this partnership was reaching the finals in Adelaide. However, they had to face several setbacks during the journey as well.

Yastremska’s father made a revelation

Following Dayana Yastremska’s announcement of parting ways with her coach Sascha Bajin, her father Oleksandr Yastremska also added a bold verdict. Expressing his thoughts about the partnership, he said, “Sascha Bajin is a good coach, very helpful, but it turned out he wasn’t ours. I don’t look at this partnership as a mistake for Dayana. It was another experience for her, but I don’t see any advantages either. Everyone looks at how good you play and what result you get.”

As team Yastremska started to see Naomi Osaka’s former coach as someone who wasn’t completely dedicated to working for the success of the Ukrainian, the separation came out as a failure of the expected results.
