The Danielle Collins chapter of this season is far from over. After an electrifying performance, the Miami and Charleston Open champion has earned her place in the semi-final in Rome. Holding the record of 19-1 since early March, Collins stands among the top 15 of the current WTA players. And to praise her incredible prowess, Andy Roddick is determined to place her among the elite group of Top 5 alongside players like Coco Gauff, and Aryna Sabalenka.

The latest episode of The Fabulous Four on the Tennis Channel Live Podcast featured host Steve Weissman and analysts Monica Puig, Jim Courier, and Andy Roddick. They dissected the biggest moments from the Rome tournament, including Alexander Zverev’s dramatic last-minute comeback and key victories from the finalists as the competition heats up in the semifinals.

Referring to Collins’ current form on-court, Roddick explained, “I think you make the argument that obviously Gauff, Rybakina, Swiatek, and Sabalenka. You’d be hard-pressed not to put Collins right behind them in a good spot right now.” On a scorching hot streak, Florida’s Danielle Collins has triumphed in 19 of her last 20 matches, a run that began with her maiden WTA 1000 title win at the Miami Open. Addressing the same, Monica Puig added, “She is no. 2 in match wins this season and she is playing with so much confidence right now..”

The current WTA ranking is indeed ruled by four WTA players. Iga Swiatek, the current World No. 1, has earned three WTA 1000 titles to her name this season. Then there is Aryna Sabalenka, who started the season by winning her second Grand Slam in Australia. However, not to forget Gauff, whose recent win against Paula Badosa in Rome has already made her qualify for the quarterfinal of the Italian Open. And Elena Rybakina is also not far behind. The World No. 4 has earned a Stuttgart Open singles title to her name earlier this season.

However, apart from the top 5 players, Roddick has his vote of confidence in Collins. “She’s just feeling it. She’s not playing bad points. You know if she’d let’s again go she gets right back to it,” he further added. Danielle Collins, with her aggressive style of play, has risen from No. 63 in mid-February to No. 15 right now in just a matter of 3 months.

Her aggressive style of play has fans excited to see her compete at the French Open and potentially even the Olympics this year. But what’s the driving force behind Danielle Collins’ recent success? The answer came straight from the champion herself, following her impressive victory in Rome.

Danielle Collins explains how certain “improvements” in her game have helped her play better

After her latest victory in the quarter-finals of Rome, Danielle Collins won against the former world number one, Victoria Azarenka. And before she prepares for her third semi-final in four tournaments over the last eight weeks, Collins shared what has helped her achieve this big stretch of wins this season.

“This is certainly been the biggest stretch of wins I’ve had in my career. And I do think that because I’ve been making those improvements, it’s led to me playing some of the best tennis that I’ve played so far, which is super rewarding. Because you go through periods where you might take three steps forward, and you might take four steps back some weeks,” said Collins. It only put weight to what Monica mentioned in the podcast as well: “I really like her(Collins) assessment after the match. Just talking more about the process and and continuing to improve”.

However, sadly, this will be Danimal’s last season on tour. This is because, after battling with health issues like rheumatoid arthritis and endometriosis, Danielle declared earlier that she would retire after this season. But before she does so, we all hope she earns her place in the top 5 WTA players of the World.
