Danielle Collins shocked the tennis fanbase when she announced her retirement from tennis following 2024 season. The American player stated that she is unable to continue playing at full health and wants to focus on ventures aside from tennis. On the same lines, Collins dropped a “fun fact for everyone” today.

The 31-year-old American player met Paula Badosa in the Charleston Open and ended her hopes in a 6-1, 6-4. After the match ended, she sat down with the tournament press to talk about how she arrived in Charleston and the first thing she plans on doing after the tennis season ends.

Detailing how she took a short flight following a training session, Miami Open superstar spilled some beans. “So I, yeah, took a nice short flight, got in here yesterday. I had a nice training session in the morning before I left, and I’m training for a marathon at the end of the year. So, fun fact for everyone.”

Being a tennis player who is primed for long matches, Collins has a very good chance of succeeding in the marathon. The race she decides to participate in will also have a lot of tennis fans in attendance for the player who won her very first Masters tournament in her last season, making it her dream run.

Collins is taking part in as many tournaments as she can before she never plays tennis again. Aside from running a marathon, Collins has shared what she plans on doing in retirement.

Many tennis stars such as Serena Williams, Venus Williams, Coco Gauff and more have used their position to create a better world for women who are suffering. Collins also intents to dive into such a venture now and stated that she would love to create a charity for women’s health in a post-match interview in the Miami Open.

She said, “Working with women is something that is very close to my heart. I am hoping to start a charity of my own at some point, centered around women’s health, trying to help women that have had reproductive issues and chronic illnesses—endometriosis, PCOS, those kinda things.

The American player is on her way out, and she will be surely missed by the tennis world. Despite missing her, the tennis fandom will bid her a good farewell.
