Sloane Stephens loves giving back to the community! And there’s no reason for the American professional to shy away from good deeds as such. She has enjoyed immense success during her time on the WTA Tour, which notably saw her lifting the 2017 US Open singles title and finishing runner-up at the 2018 French Open.
While participating in the season’s Atlanta Open, Stephens won the hearts of a mother and her daughter. Ahead of her exhibition match in Georgia on Sunday, July 21, the 31-year-old made an adorable gesture. This, in turn, elicited the American star to address the mother and the daughter for their kind words.
Stephens gifted tickets to her exhibition match to a mother-daughter duo. This gratitude was rightfully commended by the duo via their official X handle. They expressed their elation at witnessing the former World No. 3 in action from ‘suite level’ seats at the WTA 250 event. Furthermore, the duo was also seen posing with the American in one of the pictures which they captioned, “Still on a cloud nine from yesterday!! Not only did @SloaneStephens gift my daughter and I with tickets to her match, but they were suite level with food and drinks!! Such an incredible experience!! We are so grateful for your generosity!! Thank you again❤️”

However, the 31-year-old did not enjoy similar success during her exhibition match. She was sent packing by Taylor Townsend in straight sets, 7-6, 6-3. Regardless, the players seemed to have enjoyed themselves while engaging in a fun and competitive battle. Stephens entered the match with a 2-0 head-to-head lead over her compatriot. Moreover, this was Townsend’s first outing after winning her maiden 2024 Wimbledon doubles crown along with partner Katrina Siniakova.

The 31-year-old has shown flashes of brilliance every now and then, however, in all honesty, she has been inconsistent. As a result, compatriots Coco Gauff, Emma Navarro, and Jessica Pegula surpassed her in the pecking order. During an interview with ‘Arab News’, the former World No. 3 spoke about potentially missing out on the quadrennial event. “I’d love to make it (to the Olympics) but our bench is really tough; it always has been and someone always gets left out. But I’m not going to die if I don’t make it.”
It is still unclear as to what the cards hold for the US Open champion. With her country prepping ahead of their participation at the Games, she will likely eye to turn around her fortune and produce an impressive Flushing Meadows campaign this season.
