World No.2 Simona Halep recently won her third match at the Australian Open 2021. Facing Veronika Kudermetova in the third round, Halep thrashed her in straight sets and won the match quite easily. The final scoreline of the match was 6-1, 6-3.
Simona Halep will now advance to the fourth round where she’ll face Iga Swiatek. Halep will be looking for revenge as the Polish player thrashed her last time at the French Open 2020 and went on to lift the title.
In the post-match interview, Halep recalled how Swiatek crushed her at the Roland Garros. She believes that it will be a big challenge for her, and she’ll have to do better this time when she’ll face her.

“It’s a big challenge,” began Halep. “She crushed me in French Open. So, I just have to do something better to play a better match against her. I’m confident. I’m here just to give my best and let’s see.”
Even though Halep has some bitter memories of her previous clash against Swiatek, she seems confident. She even mentioned that she would give her best in the match.

“Can’t win the Grand Slam in the 1st week”- Simona Halep
In the interview, Halep also talked about her first week at the Grand Slam. She has won three matches till now and will certainly hope to go ahead from here.
“Pretty good. I had tough matches but I’m really happy that after the third one I feel much better, the game also & the body. You know first week is like Pete Sampras, we used to say, it’s about surviving, because you can’t win the Grand Slam in the 1st week,” mentioned the 2-time Grand Slam champion.
The World No.2 follows tennis legend Pete Sampras and believes that the first week is all about surviving. She claimed that she was quite happy with her performance in the first week as she was able to win some tough matches.
Simona Halep will now face Iga Swiatek in the next round of the Australian Open 2021. Fans certainly have huge expectations from the Romanian player.
