‘Created Her Own Door and Opened It Wide’-King Richard Actress on Venus Williams’ Impact on Her Career

Venus Williams has been one of the best female athletes ever. The 41-year-old tennis veteran has won 7 Grand Slam. And a whopping 49 WTA titles. The Williams sisters, both Venus and Serena, are inspirations to many women all over the world. One such woman who idolizes Venus Williams is King Richard fame, Saniyya Sidney.

Saniyya Sidney Says Venus Williams Is Her Hero

Venus won the 2022 “Power of Women” Award. the presenter of the award was none other than her on-screen portrayer Saniyya Sidney. She was happy to present the award to the person she grew up idolizing and Venus is her hero. Praising her, she further added that Venus has inspired her and many other girls like her.

“She is my hero. She’s the one who created her own door and then opened it wide, allowing a lot of girls like me to know we could go up there and conquer the world.” Saniyya said.

She added she is grateful to call Venus her big sister and a friend. And also said that it thrills her to say that she played one of her idols. “I am so grateful to call Venus a big sister and her friend. I am so happy that I get to say I played one of my idols.” She added.

Saniyya later shared the video on her Instagram account. which was re-shared on the Instagram story by Serena Williams’ Husband Alexis Ohanian and Venus herself. While Alexis tagged both Venus and Saniyya in the story, Venus shared the story with a caption highlighting love between the two.

The 41-year-old has been away from tennis for a long time now. Her absence from court has given birth to many rumors and speculations. There are constant talks about her return to the game.

While many are expecting a retirement declaration. Venus put an end to this by coming out with a video on her YouTube channel. In the video, Venus talked about a variety of topics and also shared her calendar with her fans. She shared her love for Paris and how she was busy because of her father’s biopic ‘ King Richard’.  Speaking about her return to tennis, she said that it is definitely going to happen and she will inform everyone as soon as there is some kind of development regarding the same.
