It’s none other than Julia Margaux Elbaba, who got married to the love of her life earlier this year in a beautiful wedding.

Julia Margaux Elbaba’s love story started with a text message

Started her career as a tennis player; Elbaba is now a commentator and a popular face seen frequently on the tennis courts during prestigious matches. On the personal front, earlier this year, she got married to Dr. Matthew George Nevulis, whom she fell in love with during the 2019 COVID pandemic.

Recently, in a conversation with The New York Times, she shared her love story regarding how everything started during the pandemic after they met on a dating app in early 2019. Elbaba said, “I tell him to this day that the text message means so much to me.” After that, months later, both of them took off on a week-long vacation, but that 7-day vacation turned out to be three months of togetherness for them because of the COVID lockdown.

Subsequently, when the couple met in June 2020 in Virginia, Elbaba didn’t want to get back on a plane to New York. The two of them quickly fell in love and started following a typical couple’s routine, starting with cooking together, going on picnics and hikes, and even watching Netflix as a couple.

Elbaba believed that it was a seamless transmission, but somewhere down the line, she was not sure whether she should be living with the person whom she had just met. The couple then went back to their regular life and that was the time when she decided to take a step back and settle down. Not only that, in the same conversation the former American tennis player talked bought how her love is just like a tennis game.

After leaving the sporting arena, in September 2022, the couple started forming close bonds with each other as friends and family as Elbaba started working as a digital editor for NBCUniversal. But then this year, the couple found the right time to take their relationship to the next level with wedding vows.

Elbaba stated, “Our love is like a tennis match. We’re scoring in time, and the serve is on. We don’t have to force the game to win.” The couple had an intimate wedding with around 125 guests and an outdoor ceremony in Sands Point, New York. Although the 29-year-old former tennis player found love in the most unexpected situation, it’s one of the most beautiful things that has ever happened to her.
