Coco Gauff has finally found her lost tune! After a challenging first half of the season plagued with service and double-fault errors, the WTA number three has bagged two titles. Not just that but Gauff also changed her coach allowing for greater improvement. Amidst this, tennis analysts find a great possibility in Gauff’s next season explaining why she might offer a tough fight to the WTA number one, Aryna Sabalenka.
Gauff received great admiration from a tennis analyst who believes the WTA star has improved considerably. The former US Open champion made 41 double faults across 4 matches in the 2024 Italian Open. During the 2024 French Open, Gauff made 19 double faults and lost the tournament to Martina Trevisan in the second round. This WTA star also made 19 double faults in her three matches in the Flushing Meadows this year with 60 unforced errors. Failing to defend her title at the US Open, Gauff again made 21 double-fault errors in her match against Sabalenka at the 2024 Wuhan Open semifinals. Learning from her setbacks, she did a great job in Riyadh and won the WTA Tour Finals title showing great improvement.
Now, tennis analysts Simon Rea and Levi Huddleston discussed Gauff’s potential and how it is seen through the WTA star’s recent milestone in a recent episode of the AO Show weekly podcast. Speaking about the 2023 US Open champion’s last encounter with Aryna Sabalenka, Levi said, “I would say that when they met at the US Open, you know Coco Gauff hit 19 double faults. So like, I think, Coco, now that she is making some improvement on that serve, perhaps it will be a different match if we see them play again. So there’s a lot of room for her to improve on that serve. I think she has, so I think, it would be really exciting to see what that matchup looks like at the AO.” The statement highlighted how Gauff is oozing confidence and potential for more major titles in the coming season.
