Coco Gauff is taking full advantage of changing coaches ahead of her Asian hardcourt swing. The American talent has been denied noteworthy results for quite some time. Naturally, enduring a rough patch full of disheartening outcomes is bound to have an effect. After confirming a breakup with Brad Gilbert as a coach, Gauff finally found a suitable replacement. To much amazement, the community has identified a surprising fact about her new coach—something that could help spark a major turnaround for Gauff.
Plagued by poor form, Gauff is aiming to reverse her misfortune. Frankly, she never saw it coming. Despite enjoying modest success in the season’s first half, the American entered troubled waters. After a disappointing end to her French Open campaign, her agenda in the upcoming events bore no fruit either. Furthermore, Gauff’s title defense at the US Open ended with a shocking fourth-round exit at the hands of Emma Navarro. Unable to cope and compensate for those losses, it was about time the former World No. 2 parted ways with Gilbert. With no coach to remedy her declining performance ahead of the China Open, Gauff added Matt Daly to her team. And it’s all for the right reasons!
Daly, 45, joined Gauff alongside longtime coach Jean-Christophe “JC” Faurel, confirming the update via ‘WTA Insider’. With fans lamenting Gauff’s troubled serve and unorthodox forehand grip, which led to 19 double faults during her encounter with Navarro, Gilbert’s replacement is aiming to fix that. According to the latest reports, Daly’s expertise lies in correcting players’ faulty racket grips. For those unaware, the Notre Dame University alumnus previously worked with Denis Shapovalov and several ATP professionals on grip changes. In her statement, Gauff noted that the alliance isn’t a short-term fix, but instead “probably what it will look like next year too. I’m super excited for a new change and hopefully to improve other parts of my game.”

She said, “There are other parts of my game that I want to work on, too, but the focus right now is the serve. When I serve well, I play pretty well. For me, that’s the basis for my game. Already, the little bit we’ve done has made a drastic improvement to where I was three weeks ago. I’m super excited about a new change and, hopefully, to improve other parts of my game.”
