Can Coco Gauff's mother's support turn her challenging season into a triumphant comeback?

Every career has its ups and downs, and Coco Gauff knows this all too well. She’s a powerhouse on the court, known for her tenacity and skill, but even the fine ones goe through rough patches. This season hasn’t exactly been the whirlwind of wins, Coco might have hoped for, and in moments like these, a little extra support can make all the difference. This time it’s Candi Gauff, Coco’s mom and her ultimate cheerleader.

The American tennis sensation is already in Riyadh – gearing up for the WTA finals. She will be playing her first match against Jessica Pegula on Sunday, which will be followed by the encounters against Barbora Krejcikova and Iga Swiatek. But as she prepares for the biggest challenge, her mother is backing her with all the support she needs.

Taking to her Instagram story, Candi reshared a post by TOGETHXR that shed light on Gauff’s campaigns throughout the season and lauded her for demonstrating her resilience time and again. Tagging her daughter, Candi wrote, “let’s go!!!,” signifying her support for the player.

While the 20-year-old won two titles this year, one at the ASB Classic and the other at the China Open, her performances were marred by challenges. She qualified for the semi-finals of six tournaments but failed to go further. Besides, she struggled in the Grand Slams as well and could not defend her title at the US Open. A major challenge that stood out for the player was her service game.

Gauff shot a total of 407 double faults in the 66 matches she played, which took her average to over 6 faults per match. But despite the challenges, she has her mother backing her vehemently. This, however, is not the first time when Candi has come to support her daughter and laud her success.

Soon after her title triumph in Beijing, Coco Gauff posted some pictures on Instagram of her unforgettable moments on-court with the trophy. “I’m happy with the fight I showed during the past two weeks here in Beijing and very grateful to walk away with the @chinaopen title❤️. Thank you for all of the love and support!” she captioned the images. Her mother was quick to radiate pride and express her support in the comments section and wrote, “Amazing fight!!!! Never say die!!!” And it is probably for such support that Gauff has kept her head held high amidst the challenges.

When Coco Gauff shared an optimistic take on her challenging season

Coco Gauff has continued to demonstrate her resilient character time and again which is further strengthened by the support she receives. And despite the challenging season she faced, the star player is refusing to be let down by her failures and remains motivated for the remainder of the season.

Speaking about her poor performances at the Wuhan Open after losing to Aryna Sabalenka in the semifinals, Gauff said, “I am working on new things, a slightly different movement, and it is logical that I may encounter problems. I was very surprised at how well my serve worked in Beijing.” Gauff earlier changed her coach and joined forces with Matt Daly to work on her service game. But while she won in Beijing, she failed tremendously in Wuhan and fired 21 double faults in the semi-finals. However, she is keen to work hard despite her failures.

“I took many positive things from coming close to beating one of the best in the world despite my poor serving performance handicap. I think I just need time and to keep working,” Coco Gauff added. For now, it would be interesting to see if the support of her mother would help her in Riyadh and if the American sensation can return with a trophy from the WTA Finals.
