‘Another year, same love, deeper roots’! It needs to be that way. While their older child, Coco Gauff, is thriving on-court, both her parents Candi and Corey Gauff are celebrating a milestone tonight: their dazzling ‘Opal Anniversary’. And love is very much in the air!
The Sun Sentinel reports that both Candi and Corey Gauff are originally from Delray Beach, Florida. Candi excelled in sports during her time at Florida State University, where she was a standout track-and-field star. And what about Corey? Well, he was a basketball player at Georgia State University. And what next? Their love story, of course!
Well, they met and got hitched on January 13th, 2001. And, since then, they have shared the stage with the same love, which grows daily. On the night of Coco’s Australian Open first match win against fellow American Sofia Kenin, Gauff’s mother posted a heart-melting Instagram post. “24 years in 2025! Happy anniversary! I love you!” she quoted while adding a photo with her husband.

And along with that post, who else reminded the world about the same? Well, of course, Coco herself. She re-shared the post on her social media story, quoting “also today is my parents’ anniversary! 24 years!!”.
Back in 2020, Candi shared a similar picture with her husband Corey on Instagram, celebrating their 19th Anniversary. “19 years and counting. Happy Anniversary to us. You and I already know the value we bring to each other and to our family. I love you, I love us, I love our life together. Happy Anniversary! #alwaysandforeve,” Candi quoted.
Both Candi and Corey sacrificed their careers for their child and played a significant role in Coco’s tennis journey ever since the tennis prodigy was young. And credit to Coco and her sporting genes! Who would not have given time to cherish a girl who, at nine months, skipped crawling and began walking? As she became three, Coco stopped her stroller and ran around a track, attempting to catch her older cousins. This was enough for the Gauffs to understand the capabilities of Coco. And what was next was spectacular!
19 career trophies, including the 2023 US Open and 2024 WTA Finals to date.
As the couple celebrates their anniversary, it’s now on their child to hand them a gift. An Australian Open title maybe? However, as she strongly marches on to win this year’s AO, Coco provided some fashion tips, related to her AO kit.
Coco’s first-round match ended with an AO kit update
A regular day at the office! Fresh from United’s Cup victory with Team USA, Gauff started her AO journey today at the Rod Laver Arena. Her opponent couldn’t hold the pressure as Coco easily got past Sofia Kenin, the 2020 AO champion in two straight sets 6-3, 6-3. And what drew the attention? Coco’s outfit!

Coco, who’s been working with New Balance, aka NB since she was 14, came in the match with an eye-catching outfit that includes a white bodysuit featuring side cut-outs and an open-back design. This was paired with an olive green wrap-around skirt and a pair of basketball shoes. And of course, the look took the spotlight that even Laura Robson, the former British professional, couldn’t hold herself to ask about the outfit.
“I’m a huge Marvel fan, and a lot of the female superheroes have cool cut-outs on their outfits. That’s what I wanted to do. New Balance has great designers; it’s actually kind of a pain to get into because it is a bodysuit, guys! I have to put the bottom part on first and pull it over my head. It’s kind of a struggle, and if you can’t hold your bladder, it’s also not a good idea…A couple of times I’ve had to ask the referee to help unzip me to use the bathroom! You have to sacrifice for fashion!” Coco said, while asked about the inspiration behind the kit.
In addition, complementing the superhero flair with a “cargo skirt,” the American also gave her tribute to her dad. “My shoes are inspired by basketball shoes because that’s the sport my dad wanted me to play,” before clarifying, “I’m glad I chose tennis!”. That’s not all!

After the match, the teenage sensation went to her Instagram, showing how she put on the dress and how she managed to use the bathroom with the dress with two video stories. She also gave a status, quoting “I heard ya’ll liked the fit! Is that true??” While complementing her sponsor New Balance. “new balance and I always eat 🫶🏾” she added.
Well, for Coco next in line is UK’s Jodie Anna Burrage. Will she be able to pull this one off too?
