Candi Gauff even took part in the celebration after the match by waving a small cutout of the United Cup logo from her seat. Talking about IG stories, well, in the last few hours she uploaded five stories, and guess what? Four out of those featured her daughter’s weird expressions!

Coco Gauff loves spending time with her family and she has time and reflected the same during her previous interactions. Talking about bonding… Well, there is no better bond than that of a mother and daughter. And these moments are a perfect example of such.

While speaking about her parents’ enormous support, Coco Gauff once said, “Both my parents are constant support all the time. My mom, it’s just a motherly thing. There’s nothing like a mother-daughter relationship. Especially in swings like Asia where it maybe is more isolated than usual, we just play Uno lot.”

In May 2024, during an interview, Gauff revealed how her mother’s presence helped her during the Tour. “I mean, it’s just little things like laundry or I will forget something. Just little things like that that moms are always looking out for and dads sometimes too, but even he forgets sometimes.” Coco Gauff thinks she’ll never “ever grow out of” her mother’s love.

Coco Gauff wouldn’t be where she is today without the unconditional love and support from her parents. When Gauff was in second grade, Corey and Candi knew their daughter was destined to be a star athlete. So, they had to say goodbye to their lives in Atlanta and moved back to their hometown of Delray Beach, Florida in order to lean on their immediate family for support. Her father played college basketball at George State University, and later, he worked as a healthcare executive. Her mother was a track and field athlete at Florida State University and worked as an educator. However, their parents had to give up their careers to focus on training their daughters.

Talking about training their daughter, Candi Gauff once revealed, “In the beginning, I would watch her practice, take notes, and just listen to what some of the coaches were saying. And then I relayed the information to Corey (Coco’s father). But as Coco became a teenager, she didn’t want to listen to my advice as a coach.” So, she had to back away and let her father play the role. Her job was then, “To raise her and making sure that she is doing her school work, developing friendships, and having a social life. And just answering some things that a young lady would want to know.

In 2019, when Coco Gauff became the youngest player to win a singles match at Wimbledon since 1991, her parents couldn’t control their emotions. Her father, Corey, let out a primal scream while her mother later spoke about all the emotions that went out through these expressions. “It was pure joy, he (Corey) was finally able to let out the emotions in one big scream. It was overwhelming, it was stressful, my nerves were at their highest and I’m just glad she was successful,” Candi Gauff.
