Saudi Arabia has extended an offer to take control of tennis, following their significant investments in other sports like football, Formula One, boxing, and golf. The proposed deal, reportedly worth $2 billion, is targeted to create a unified ‘Premium Tour’ integrating both men’s and women’s circuits. Brad Gilbert, coach to rising tennis star Coco Gauff, highlighted his expectations for the potential benefits for players in light of the offer.

Gilbert explained the necessity for tennis to keep pace with golf, where prize money’s graph has increased over the years due to strategic investments. “Tennis is totally lacking for where golf has gone. Price money we are in a 14-day tournament here at Indian Wells this is the biggest non grand Slam tournament there is, over 600000 fans for the 2 weeks the winner gets 1 million dollars,” Gilbert said.

While there have been many contradicting discussions regarding Saudi Arabia’s offer to take hold of tennis, the ATP authorities appear to be taking it as a positive opportunity. Days after discussing the offer, the ATP mentioned that it has the potential to, “elevate the long‑term future of tennis.”

Along with that, ATP’s CEO Massimo Calvelli dropped a new vision with the offer. “Our strategic partnership with PIF marks a major moment for tennis. It’s a shared commitment to propel the future of the sport,” he stated. As the authorities have made announcements of taking the opportunity positively, it still remains to be seen if it goes the way Brad Gilbert expects it to.
