You know, tennis fashion is a HUGE deal, thanks to all the sponsors. Coco Gauff and New Balance totally killed it last year in Australia. They started with this awesome two-tone look, but Coco, at this year’s Slam in Melbourne, put her own spin on it with a super cool white bodysuit – cutouts, open back, the whole nine yards! She paired it with this olive green skirt and rocked those basketball-inspired shoes. Then, for her night kit, she switched to this all-neon gear with white shoes. Talk about a statement! And after her win, everyone was buzzing about her style, especially Paige Lorenze. Coco’s game and her fashion are both on fire right now!
The second round, which took place at the famous Rod Laver Arena, saw Gauff wearing an all-neon dress to go head-to head against Burrage. The first set ended in a commanding fashion for Coco, 6-3. However, the American hit a rough patch, struggling with double-faults and dropping four games in a row to go from a break up at 3-1 to a break down at 5-3. When Burrage served for the second set, Gauff regained control, using a four-game run of her own to end the second set(and contest), 7-5.
After the match, the American teenager posted a few on-court pictures of hers and a video of her celebrating with the fans at the arena. She captioned the post, “neon brights for under the lights⚡️#AO”. Certainly, her Australian Open kit for the match got the most attention. Of Tommy Paul’s beloved, too.

Paige Lorenze commented, “The kit is sooo goooooddd✨”, under the post. And, the conversation ended with the American adding: “@paigelorenze thank youuu❤️❤️❤️”.
In addition, the love for the Neon dress doesn’t end there as Coco posted some photos in her Instagram stories while captioning “night kit”. In the story that followed, there was a collage of Gauff in a day kit in one and a night kit in another. Her mother, Candi Gauff, fresh from her 24th anniversary, re-shared the post on her social media.
Even though Gauff was only 14 in 2018, New Balance, the athletic company, signed her to an endorsement deal. By November 2022, Gauff signed a long-term extension with NB and introduced her shoe — the Coco CG1. And, the collaboration took a smooth turn when the American started the AO 2025 journey in the first round against fellow American Sofia Kenin. All this attracted Laura Robson, the on-court announcer, who couldn’t help but ask about the outfit.
“I’m a huge Marvel fan, and a lot of the female superheroes have cool cut-outs on their outfits. That’s what I wanted to do. New Balance has great designers; it’s actually kind of a pain to get into because it is a bodysuit, guys! I have to put the bottom part on first and pull it over my head. It’s kind of a struggle, and if you can’t hold your bladder, it’s also not a good idea…A couple of times I’ve had to ask the referee to help unzip me to use the bathroom! You have to sacrifice for fashion!” Coco added, while asked about the inspiration behind her 2025 Australian Open tennis kit.
Maybe Green is the new fashion trend this year. Why? Saw Carlos Alcaraz’s mellow green look at AO’s first round? Alcaraz sported a striking green ensemble on court. He wore vibrant green shorts paired with a sleeveless top, and underneath, a lighter shade of green peeked through. To complete the look, he added a pop of color with neon yellow tennis sneakers.
In addition, the WTA no.1 Aryna Sabalenka was also seen in all Neon. She wore a yellow dress with different shades of the same color and paired it with white tennis shoes in her second round match against Jessica Bouzas Maneiro.
Well, Gauff will now face 30th-ranked Leylah Fernandez in the third round, whom she has already beaten once in straight sets at the United Cup 2025. However, before that match, Coco needs to work on one thing.

Coco’s honest analysis after the second round match
Fresh from the United Cup straight 5 victories, the AO second round win extended her streak to 7 matches, making the 20-year-old unbeaten in 2025 as of now. However, the win was not as easy as it seems in the numbers!
After a first-set win in just 35 minutes, Gauff’s speed and consistency gave her a commanding 3-1 lead in the second set against Burrage, who is making a strong comeback after a six-month injury layoff in 2024. However, Burrage staged a remarkable comeback, winning four games in a row to put the pressure back on Gauff. But the American showed her resilience, responding with four straight games of her own to seal the victory. And her after-match press conference showed the pressure of the game.

“It was tough. She was serving really well so I was just trying to manage that. I doubled a little bit, but she was returning well so it put pressure on my serve. Maybe next time, mix up the targets a bit,” she said. “She really stepped her level up in the middle of the second set, so I was just trying to be offensive when I could because if I landed anything short she was hitting a winner,” she added later. Coco Gauff has now achieved a significant milestone in her career.
With her recent win, she joins Venus Williams with 62 Grand Slam match victories before turning 21. This places her in elite company, as only four other American players – Monica Seles, Serena Williams, Mary Joe Fernandez, and Chris Evert – have amassed more wins before reaching that age.
