Coco Gauff, unlike many other WTA stars, doesn’t seem to have any New Year resolutions for 2025. The world no.3 is currently leading Team USA in the United Cup 2025. With Taylor Fritz battling beside her, the pair secured a notable victory over the Canadians Felix Auger-Aliassime and Leylah Fernandez and the Croatian pair of Petra Marcinko and Ivan Dodig to guide Team USA to the quarterfinals. Having made it to the top 8, the squad took a moment to gush about their plans for the upcoming New Year’s Eve. While fans were curious to know what resolutions Coco Gauff had, her response turned out to be quite surprising.

The world number three has been in scintillating form in the United Cup so far, winning all her matches in singles and mixed doubles. After a dominating performance against Leylah Fernandez of Canada, Gauff defeated Croatia’s Donna Vekic by 6-4, 6-2 in Perth, taking sweet revenge for her Paris Olympics loss to the Croatian. Reflecting on the match, Gauff shared, “Really happy with how I played today. She’s a great player. The Olympics loss hurt so I definitely was thinking about it just as motivation to do better and I’m happy to send my team through.”

A quarterfinal qualification definitely calls for celebration and what’s a better occasion to celebrate than New Year’s Eve? But when asked about her New Year resolution, Gauff had an interesting answer. “I kind of like stopped doing New Year’s resolutions cuz it works for like 2 weeks and then I don’t keep up with it um so you know I don’t know there are no resolutions I think um just do better than I did the year before,” said the former US Open Champion.

The American team showcased their depth and dominance. Ranked world number four, Taylor Fritz also delivered a strong performance by defeating Borna Coric 6-3, 6-2 in the challenging Perth heat. Their efforts have set up a high-stakes quarter-final clash against China.

Gauff, meanwhile, despite moving into the New Year without a resolution, has decided to embrace something else.
