The 19-year-old Coco Gauff is sailing into the WTA Finals semis. For the third-seeded tennis player, who won her first Grand Slam championship at the US Open earlier this year, the year-end competition holds great significance. During the US Open, she walked past Iga Swiatek and Ons Jabeur with impressive tennis skills, making her path to the tournament’s conclusion appear smooth.

However, in the WTA Finals, Gauff has been facing struggles. But her matchup with Marketa Vondrousova in the third round revealed the fearless resiliency of the American tennis phenom that had not been evident in the event so far. Adding to the charm, Gauff received loads of praise from an American tennis star, Chris Evert, after giving a strong fight and prevailing against the 24-year-old.

After having a year full of victories and defeats, the American teenage sensation is thriving at the year-end Championship. She secured her position in the semi-finals, by defeating her Czech opponent in a tough match. Even though the 24-year-old gave a tough competition, Gauff emerged as a stronger tennis player and earned her comeback victory.

While the 19-year-old received a lot of praise for her outstanding performance against Marketa Vondrousova. She also received special praise from the eighteen-time Grand Slam champion. Evert took to her Twitter account and wrote one-word praise for her courageous competition the teenage tennis player gave to her opponent. “GUTSY…..” followed by a series of emojis applauding her for her victory.

Along with that, she also shared a WTA post that hailed the 19-year-old for her big win, which she has achieved till now in the tournament. Every now and then, the former world number one has praised the rising tennis sensation for her efforts on the tennis court.

Even when the third-ranked tennis player won the US Open this year and grabbed her first Grand Slam title, she received praise from the 68-year-old American tennis legend. Along with applauding Gauff for her victory, Evert also showed confidence in the 19-year-old for displaying amazing tennis skills at the perfect time and also took a jab at Emma Raducanu at the same time.

In an interview after the US Open, as per the Daily Express, the American tennis legend highlighted how Gauff was ready to win more victories on the athletic front after her first Grand Slam victory. Further, she praised her and said, “I am glad Coco Gauff did not win as a younger teenager because it can be a bad thing for players. There are examples of that.”

Along with that, she also brought up Raducanu in the same conversation and highlighted how she suffered a lot on and off the tennis court, as the pressure of winning came quite early to her. But on the other hand, she believes that the 2023 US Open champion is ready to handle the pressure while delivering amazing tennis to the world.
