Coco Gauff is currently doing whatever it takes to resonate her high motivation levels in her on-court performance. While she is busy keeping her game up to the mark, her coach Brad Gilbert is ensuring everything goes in the right manner at the prestigious event. In a recent tweet, Brad Gilbert expressed concern over the length of time it takes for injury timeout evaluations during matches.

Gilbert highlighted that the evaluation process sometimes exceeds the actual injury timeout, comparing it to the time when all of it used to wind up in just three minutes. Gilbert shared on Twitter, “The injury TO evaluation takes way too long, sometimes even longer than the actual injury TO. It used to be back in the day, no evaluation, just 3 mins – they should go back to that rule.”

Besides pointing out the longer injury timeout evaluation phases Brad Gilbert also noticed struggles amid the Melbourne heat. As the former tennis star has great experience hitting the courts in even higher temperatures, he gave an alarming response to help players normalize the current heat.

“Why you seeing some players struggling today temps in low 80’s the warmest day since I have been here for 8 days, normally low 80’s in Melbourne is win, can easily be high 90’s for a lot of day @AustralianOpen,” he said in a recent tweet.

Well, Gilbert was right about the concern he raised. The scorching heat of Melbourne is actually a hindrance for the players as news of their struggle is coming out. A trustworthy source recently showed a picture from the AO 2024 match between Vesely and Arthur Fils where heat was quite an issue: “Vesely pushing Fils very hard but struggling. Physio and doctor called.” Besides, Jack Draper is also very much affected by Australian heat.
