For the past few years, mental health has been a very concerning topic in the tennis world. A lot of tennis players, including Rafael Nadal and Naomi Osaka, have openly talked about finding time for themselves and dealing with their mental stress. And now Coco Gauff’s best friend has also talked about the same in a recent interview with the WTA, showing her real side and focusing on her mental health. Along with that, Pegula talked about how she handles pressing problems around her.

She said, “I let myself feel whatever I need to feel and then I’m like, okay. I need to shift the perspective and snap out of it and for me, that works. I wouldn’t say, I have like a ton of anxiety but I think that’s also because I do keep myself busy and I like to work on things and have goals or challenges depending on if it’s tennis or if it’s off the court or if it’s something personal to me.”

Further, the US Open champion’s doubles partner also talked about how there are a lot of things that kind of add up and can help a person get through tough times. But for her, sometimes she can be very hard on herself. So, she tries to bring in different perspectives to shift things and bring her back to reality.

When Pegula fearlessly dealt with a misleading claim

In the quarterfinals of the US Open, where Pegula faced Madison Keys, she suffered a heavy loss, but there was more to the story. The media outlets took her reaction too far and portrayed her as crying right after the loss, going away from the actual story.

During her press conference after the loss, she made it clear that even after not doing so well in the singles category; she had to play a doubles match just an hour after the defeat, but she was not crying.
