This year was a great year for tennis, as we saw many young players making their mark on the biggest stage. Iga Swiatek, Coco Gauff, Carlos Alcaraz, and Aryna Sabalenka, while being established players, reached new heights this year. We also saw major changes in the status quo in many tournaments. Now, as 2023 is coming to a wrap, Google shared its most searched entities in various fields throughout their 25 years of operation. To the surprise of many fans, the starring tennis entity on this list was none other than the 2023 US Open WTA champion.

Along with her, the list also contained two legends of the sport, who played a significant role in taking women’s tennis to its current level. Serena Williams and Billie Jean King are evergreen figures in the racket sport, and unsurprisingly, they also made it to the top of Google’s most searched for 2023.

She changed coaches a few times but couldn’t find great ground. However, she found the perfect match before the Washington Open, which managed to change her trajectory. She won her first WTA 500, Masters and Grand Slam, giving herself immeasurable fame. Gauff also found a comfortable second spot in the most searched list of female athletes released by The Tennis Letter.

Now, as Google releases the video for its most searched entities over the 25 years of its existence, Gauff gets a sparkling feature at the end, with the message, “Here’s to those who set the bar“. The video featured Gauff lying down on the court, holding her face with tears rolling down her cheeks, astonished by her US Open win.

She became the tennis highlight of the video. The 19-year-old American sensation had quite an eventful year. She started the year by facing constant difficulties on tour. Although her doubles tour saw some success, she kept falling short of pulling ahead in the final stages.

Along with Gauff, we saw many sporting personalities in Google’s video. Tennis got a prime feature, as we saw legends of yesteryear tennis before it ended.
