Coco Gauff’s family’s love for sports is no secret anymore! At just 20, the American sensation has already made her mark on the tennis courts and has left fans in awe. Fresh off a remarkable title win at the China Open and a deep run at the Wuhan Open, Gauff has decided to take a well-deserved break. But while she steps back to recharge, it’s her brother, Codey Gauff, who’s stepping into the spotlight. And you can bet the proud sister couldn’t be happier about it, cheering him on as he takes center stage in the family’s sports legacy!

Taking to his Instagram on Wednesday, 16-year-old Codey Gauff shared a remarkable career update. In the pictures he shared, he can be seen wearing a white outfit with “Tigers” and “21” etched over it. He captioned, “I am super excited to announce that I will be committing to Mizzou University. First I want to thank God without him none of this would be possible, I would also like to thank my family, coaches and close friends that have pushed me along the way. I want to thank the mizzou coaching staff for believing in me.” The teenager’s proud sister did not take long to shower her love.

Responding to the post, Gauff took to the comment section and wrote, “So proud of you codey! Beyond happy for you!” For the unversed, Codey did not follow in the footsteps of her sister to pursue tennis. Instead, he plays baseball – and currently, he seems to be making some huge progress. Her sister’s praises for him, meanwhile, did not just end there. 

The 2023 US Open winner shared the news expressing her pride in his achievement with Instagram stories as well. Tagging Codey on her story, Gauff wrote, “so proud of you.” She again shared more pictures and wrote, “sorry for the spam… I’m just so happy for him. My lil bro is growing up 🥲.” This, however, is not the first time when Gauff’s love for her brother has come to light. 

After her win against Ons Jabeur at Roland Garros this year, the young player opened up about her interesting dynamics with her brothers and expressed love for them. “Those relationships are incredibly important to me,” she said, highlighting the significance of family in her life.

There have been occasions where the siblings have helped each other in sports. After her third-round win against Alycia Parks in the 2023 US Open, Gauff revealed the advice she received from her brother and how it helped her improve her mind games in major events like the Grand Slams. 

When quizzed about her mindset during the games, Gauff claimed to “Have fun and relax.” She further revealed, “I think as you get later, the trophy obviously gets closer and closer. You have to treat it that it’s as far away as it is if you’re in the first round. That’s what I approached that final with. I didn’t approach it as I just need to win two sets and I have it. I approached it as I need to win seven matches again and then I’ll get it. It was actually something my brother told me, which is crazy.” Indeed, it is incredible for a teenager of Codey’s age to have such a detailed understanding of sports.

As time evolves, it would be interesting to see if Codey can also continue to shine and make a strong place for himself in the sports arena just like his sister, Coco Gauff.
