The American sensation, before competing in the Indian Wells Masters next week, recorded a glamorous night in Hollywood on Sunday, March 2, and she brought her mother Candi as a special date for the ceremony. An avid supporter of the 2023 US Open champion later cheered the young talent for her dazzling looks at the Academy Awards.

Gauff arrived on the red carpet outside Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre, draped in a stunning tennis-yellow gown outfit. Adored with jewels and accessorized with diamond earrings, the World No. 3 finished off the look with her hair in braids and a messy bun. Meanwhile, her mother, Candi, wore a silver gown with a shimmering bracelet as the duo posed for photos during the big night in Hollywood. However, Gauff’s mother summed up thoughts on her daughter’s wardrobe setting way before she hit the carpet.

The 20-year-old gave a sneak peek at her look by taking to Instagram. A carousel of photos shared by Gauff, and captioned “Moments before arriving to the #oscars,” later welcomed a heartwarming reaction from Candi. She added the American star’s post to her social media handle with a string of red heart emojis. Not to be outdone, Gauff received plenty of compliments from the tennis world as well.

Fellow players including Alison Riske-Amritraj commented “Beautiful!!!,” while another compatriot, Sachia Vickery, was in awe of Gauff as she wrote, “Damn ATE,” on her IG post. For those unaware, the mother-daughter duo often shake up events with their gorgeous looks. Earlier in February, Coco and Candi attended the Qatar TotalEnergies Open players’ party, all dressed up for the nines in front of the paparazzi.

Having capped the perfect night to unwind, Gauff will now get back to business. However, before leaving the big stage, the American player talked about being “more than just a tennis player.” A fitting occasion for her candid admission, seeing as she got a chance to get along with the biggest celebrity line-up.

American superstar Coco Gauff, not only posed for the camera at the 2025 Oscars but also exchanged a few words with American TV host Kevin Frazier and correspondent Nichelle Turner. After the 20-year-old confirmed leaving the arena to commence preparations ahead of the BNP Paribas Open in Palm Springs, Gauff also revealed what keeps her from attending high-profile Hollywood events.

“I’m usually the one who says no to these things because I get anxiety really bad, but I’m just happy to be here. I wanna be more than just a tennis player and step into other worlds.” She expanded on the subject by highlighting how being a professional player – although prepares her to perform in a stadium filled with fans – barely helps her to put on a mean face in front of a different world where the rules are different.

“I just always imagined myself as a tennis player. So that part I’m like ‘Okay I’m prepared for that’ but this part of it everything is new, outside of my wildest dreams but I’m taking it. I’m thanking god for it and I’m happy to be here,” she added.

For now, Gauff will be looking for better results in Indian Wells. She lost her bid for the WTA Masters 1000 title last year after exiting in the semifinals. The American player will likely be seeded No. 3 at the high-octane tournament, where rivals like No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka and defending champion Iga Swiatek will be gunning for their first title of the season as well.
