For Coco Gauff, family comes first! Following an embarrassing US Open third-round defeat, the 20-year-old American has landed in Beijing, hoping to kick off her campaign with a fresh start in the China Open, and is ready to lock horns with Clara Burel. But before stepping onto the court, Gauff’s mother, Candi, who is also accompanying her on the trip, is making the most of their time in China. And why not? After all, it’s National Daughter’s Day and Gauff’s mother knows how to express her gratitude for her daughter’s presence in her life!

The 2024 season has been anything but smooth for Coco Gauff (She even failed to clinch a second singles title after winning in the ASB Classic). Moreover, her early round exits from the singles event in various tournaments, including the Paris Olympics, have only added to her misery. However, after wrapping up the last grand slam of the year, the US Open, where she earned her first grand slam last year, and firing her coach, Brad Gilbert, Gauff, is entering the Asian swing with renewed enthusiasm. And her ever-supportive mother, Candi, is by Gauff’s side as they take a detour before the China Open begins (where she reached the semifinals in 2023). 

After arriving in Beijing and practicing tennis, Gauff went on a vacation with Candi to one of the world’s seven wonders, the Great Wall of China! Both of them took selfies and solo photos (wearing matching black attire) while visiting the monument extending to 10,000 miles, the pictures of which Candi posted on her Instagram! But that’s not it.

They also went to the iconic landmarks of China, including the Forbidden City, where Candi posed solo with the backdrop of the Palace Museum. Moreover, Candi took the opportunity to celebrate National Daughters’ Day by posting goofy photo booth pictures with Coco Gauff, captioned, “@cocogauff National Daughters Day.” 

The former World No. 2 player reciprocated with love, re-sharing Candi’s post, she wrote, “Love my mom.” In one of the four pictures (made into a collage), Gauff was wearing her shades while Candi was smiling at the camera. Another picture displayed Gauff planting a kiss on her mother’s head with love, while another showed Candi pouting and Gauff smiling with her hands on her chin. They clicked the last photo with a face that displayed shock (in a lighthearted way). Moreover, their trip also had some adorable fun mother-daughter moments, which included Gauff joking about her mother’s photography skills as well!

During their vacation time in China, where Coco Gauff and Candi went to enjoy the Great Wall of China, all Gauff needed was a nice picture of her with the scenic beauty of the place. However, it seemed that her mother was not able to capture the moment with perfection as Gauff took to her Instagram and shared, “Lol when you gotta position the phone right where you want it so your mom doesn’t mess up your photo, lol,” on a picture that revealed Gauff standing with her phone in hand, trying to figure out the perfect point from which the picture should be taken.

As Gauff’s next post appeared, she could be seen joyfully running down the slope of the Great Wall of China. Her words on the picture read, “Rented the Great Wall all to myself.” It’s possible her mother successfully took that picture. Moreover, she also shared a few glimpses of her wearing a traditional Chinese dress and clicking pictures in the Forbidden City as well. As Coco Gauff and her mother enjoy their delightful trip in Beijing, fans are waiting to see more of their mother-daughter duo bond on Instagram!
