Coco Gauff‘s US Open victory last year wasn’t just an achievement on the court for her. Using her position to spread positivity, the rising star has been involved in activities that resonate with the true essence of Black History Month.

Recently, Coco Gauff talked about the differences that she feels exist in the previous generations and the current ones in terms of rising in the world as a Black woman. As the tennis star gave out her perspective, it presented a completely fresh image that the Gen Zs have adapted.

US Open champion Coco Gauff recently shed light on the pivotal impact that social media has been creating on the awareness of racial disparities. She mentioned on the WTA Insider Podcast, “I think it’s very different because with the rise of social media, it’s very hard to turn a blind eye into the differences we have.”

Detailing the impact of social media on the current generation, Gauff shared how the present age is moving towards celebrating diversity more than ever before. She added, “I feel like we’re not the generation that’s gonna be colorblind or pretend that racism doesn’t exist.”

Along with talking about the differences, the rising WTA star also reflected on the progress made by her parents’ generation in laying the base for equality. “They were like the first generation to grow with complete legal equality and I think my generation is now more so just really uplifting and embracing the changes in peoples cultures and you know when I go on social media and I see like just different food things,” she explained, sharing a positive perspective on the matter.
