Coco Gauff started her Australian Open stint with a bang. She won her opening match in the country and celebrated her victory. Gauff’s post-match interview will go on to create much buzz as the American sensation gave a confident claim. When asked about the tie in the first set, Gauff revealed her inner dialogue, which showed her confidence in her fashion.

Gauff is slowly becoming a fashion icon like some of her idols. The 19-year-old WTA star has made a fashion statement with several of her outfits, and now the efforts in this regard have paid off as they help her feel confident.

Although she won her opening round bout, it did not start the way Gauff wanted it to. The American sensation faced a tie at 3-3 in the first set and found herself getting worked up. Being aggravated would not be of any help, and the US Open champion found a way to bring herself back into focus. After the match, she revealed the words she said to herself to alleviate the mental tension.

Gauff told the reporter, “Honestly, when I was nervous at 3 all, I just told myself, I literally said, ‘I feel good, I look good’.” Her comments resonated with the crowd in Melbourne as they hooted loudly after this statement. Gauff has become a fashion icon in her short time in tennis. The young player has designed shoes with her sponsors, New Balance, and will surely go on to design more.

While Gauff is feeling good now, the feeling a while ago was completely different. Before she played her first match, Gauff was trolling fans on social media and found herself with immense backlash.

Gauff faces the wrath of fans

The USTA released a silly poster to commemorate the players seeded in the Australian Open. Gauff was vocal about her disdain for the poster and talked about it on many of her social media pages. She even ranted about it on her Instagram story. Fans did not enjoy her reaction and many called her out for the constant flak.

Gauff cleared the air eventually as she said, “I was bored in my hotel room😭 i’m sorry y’all it was just a kiki plz let me breathe🙏🏾 tennis twitter is funny but ruthless haha omg“. She did not receive a great mental start to her stint in Australia, but she did not let it affect her brought her opponent down in straight sets and a bagel.
