American WTA star and former US Open champion Coco Gauff recently surprised her fans by bringing back a crucial member of her team. Fans who know that Coco Gauff has been under the training of Brad Gilbert must be aware that another renowned tennis personality coached this talented WTA star three years back. This person is a veteran coach and none other than Jean-Christophe Faurel.

According to a trusted Reddit source, Jean-Christophe Faurel accepted Gauff’s request to join the former US Open champion’s team along with Brad Gilbert. Now, Faurel was a member of the elite tennis center of Jean-René Lisnard for Alexander Muller. Sharing a close bond, this French veteran coach worked with Coco Gauff from March 2019 to 2020’s December.

Back in 2020, when Gauff was suffering from mental health challenges, Faurel brought her to the light with daily fitness and tennis practices. Three years after that Gauff again brings Faurel to her team as she prepares for her future tennis ambitions.

Coco Gauff’s partnership with Jean-Christophe Faurel helped the former to present a mindblowing performance at the Wimbledon tournament in 2020. Although she was taken down by Siona Halep, she was able to eliminate Serena Williams at the qualifier round before even entering round 16. Now that Jean-Christophe Faurel is back to guide Coco Gauff again, this WTA star might improve and return to the court with a bang.

In 2019, Coco Gauff received a heck load of criticism because of her controversial forehand leading to her coach Jean-Cristophe Faurel. However, Faurel mentioned Gauff’s father’s role in saving him – “We all know that Coco’s forehand grip is very controversial, He received me and listened to me. At the end, he said, ‘The next one who bothers you with this, you send it to me.’ There were no more problems afterward with this famous forehand shot. I was then able to work on what I deemed good for her.”

Jean-Christophe Faurel’s relationship with Coco Gauff goes back to the past when Gauff didn’t earn much fame in professional tennis. While the collaboration halted for a few years in between, Faurel’s return to Gauff’s team will definitely bring more positivity to Gauff’s career.
