The 2025 United Cup has reached its business end. Over the past week, we have seen some thrilling action on the court as top players began their campaign with a bang. After a week of enthralling display, only two teams remain in contention to lift the title. Team Poland will take on the United States in a high-stakes summit clash tomorrow, with a chance to attain bragging rights before the Australian Open. Moreover, the tie will also see the battle between two intriguing rivals, Coco Gauff and Iga Swiatek. Ahead of their clash, the American sensation took to sledging.
Interestingly, Gauff hasn’t had the best of results against Swiatek. She trails the former World Number 1, Swiatek 2-11 in their head-to-head battles. However, Gauff won their previous encounter at the WTA Finals just two months back. As a result, she is confident going into the encounter and issued a stern warning to Swiatek.
During an interview at the United Cup, Gauff was asked to comment about her match against Swiatek tomorrow and if the WTA Finals victory would play in her mind while facing her rival. Gauff mentioned, “I think just confidence. I was very confident in Riyadh. Yeah, I think when I’m playing confident tennis, that’s my best tennis. It makes it hard for her or anyone to really do anything. So tomorrow I’m just going to go out there and be confident.”
