Do you agree with Coco Gauff that the US Open's new rule will revolutionize tennis fandom?

Defending champion Coco Gauff has nothing to “bother” about the US Open‘s new rules. However, her opinion has a slight twist to it. A victim of the umpire’s faulty decision many times, Gauff applauded the American Grand Slam committee for implementing the VAR system. However, is she equally pleased about the tournament’s other rule? As the former champion lays bare her heart, the tennis world encounters the challenges of the players working their heart and soul to achieve their dreams.

Gauff spoke from her heart out while speaking about a rule recently added to the US Open. According to this rule, spectators could leave their seats during the ongoing match during breaks and not changeovers. Gauff was asked whether this new rule bothers her and if she feels other tournaments might also start this practice. In her response, Gauff said, “Yeah, it doesn’t really bother me.”

She further explained, “I mean, there’s sometimes maybe somebody is wearing a white shirt or something, only today I told my opponent to wait for a second for this person to sit down. Usually it doesn’t bother me.” Gauff then spoke about how “umpires are pretty accommodating when players want to wait.” This expressed her faith in the referees speaking about how a spectator’s shirt color might let a player lose the ball when tossed up as a returner.

The behavior of the crowd has been one of the most controversial topics of discussion in the tennis world. From Novak Djokovic to Nick Kyrgios, many players have faced the wrath of the spectators during an ongoing match and shared their views on it. However, the case is different for the US Open. Here, the audience receives permission to leave their seats, leaving the player distracted, which might cause them a blunder in the Grand Slam.

The US Open has a VAR monitoring system for players, and they used it last year too. Ahead of the Grand Slam, Gauff expressed her delight about the system with an honest demand. “I definitely think that, you know, it should be, especially at the slams, it should be here and 1000 tournaments,”  she said.

Coco Gauff’s opinion about the US Open fuels people’s excitement about the American Grand Slam. With modern technology and new rules, this Grand Slam hopes to attain success, setting the example of fair judgement and perfect organization to other tournaments.
