It looks like Coco Gauff is getting better with each match she is playing. Yesterday, she put on a dominant display to overcome the challenge of Ons Jabeur in the quarterfinals of the French Open. Although more experienced than the two, Gauff showed Jabeur why she is one of the top players in the women’s circuit. Recently, Gauff’s compatriot and former American tennis player, Chanda Rubin, highlighted Gauff’s special qualities that were on display during her match against Jabeur.

Hours ago, Rubin was involved in the Tennis Channel Live Podcast in which she analyzed Gauff’s win over Jabeur. The 48-year-old was left in awe of Gauff’s display and couldn’t stop mentioning it. She said, “Coco Gauff was impressive with that win, the backhand got it going, she was able to get the break early in the second set. And that’s where it changed a little bit. It wasn’t just more unforced errors from Ons Jabeur, but aggressive play from Gauff.”

Further, she went on to add, “She was stepping inside the court, press a little bit more and it paid off. It was Gauff with all the momentum. At the end of it, she had Jabeur reeling.”

Although her Tunisian opponent started off the first set strongly, Gauff kept digging deep and took advantage of any mistakes Jabeur made. “She’s a tough opponent,” the American said. “I was trying to be more aggressive, she was playing really well and hitting a lot of winners – which I’m not used to. I got a little bit tight but I did what I needed to do.”

At 20, Gauff has already become one of the players to beat on the WTA Tour. Additionally, with her French Open quarterfinal victory over Jabeur, she achieved a unique record that not many have been able to achieve.

Coco Gauff follows the likes of Chris Evert and Andrea Jaeger

Back in 2022, Gauff reached the summit clash of the French Open, losing against Iga Swiatek in the finals. She is on track to achieve her best showing here and has already made it to the elite list of players after reaching the last four this year.

Following her win over Jabeur, OptaAce unveiled the update on their X account, saying, “Coco Gauff has become only the third American in the Open Era to reach multiple Women’s Singles semi-finals at Roland Garros before the age of 21, along with Chris Evert and Andrea Jaege.”

It will be a repeat of the French Open 2022 finals as Gauff will face Swiatek in a thrilling last-four clash. She will be looking to take revenge this time around and will get on to the court with all guns blazing. However, Gauff will have to be wary of the dominant form Swiatek is in and the Pole has broken hardly any sweat in this tournament. Will Swiatek maintain her dominant run or will Gauff be able to take her revenge? Let us know your views in the comments below.
