She shared a clip on her Instagram story, where she tried to get the camera in the right position so her mother could capture a nice photo of her. “Lol when you gotta position the phone right where you want it so your mom doesn’t mess up your photo lol.” Coco Gauff’s statement reminded her followers of their struggles. It gets difficult to teach parents about Generation Z things when they still struggle to understand social media, smartphones, and more. It also highlighted the former US Open champion’s relationship with her mother, Candi Gauff, who has been an ardent supporter of her daughter’s professional career.

Gauff arrived in China a few days before the main draw. She was seen practicing for the tournament when an enthusiastic supporter asked her to sign their laptop. Nevertheless, her Instagram stories containing her selfie with her mother and her solo pictures on the iconic Chinese landmark reflected her positive personality ahead of the tournament.

After ending the 2024 US Open on a sad note, Coco Gauff decided to part ways with her former coach Brad Gilbert. She spent a professional year and a Grand Slam title together with Gilbert. After exiting the American Slam with 19 double faults and a disappointing defeat to Emma Navarro in the fourth round, she made the decision. Gauff announced it on social media and wrote, “We had an incredible run and I wish you all the best in the future!” On the other hand, Gilbert dropped compliments for his former pupil. “Coco, at just 20 years young, your future is incredibly bright, and I wish you nothing but continued success ahead,” he wrote.

After splitting with her former coach, the tennis community is curious to see how she performs in the China Open. However, with the way she dedicates her heart and soul to improvement, she might find her lost rhythm in Asia and return to her peak form.
