Fun-time! After a horrid run at the North American hard court swing, it seems as if Coco Gauff is loving her time in Asia. She recently parted ways with Brad Gilbert and now Matt Daly has joined Jean-Christophe Faurel to bring some success to her camp for the rest of the season. Talking about success, well, she recently won her first match at the China Open. Gauff beat France’s Clara Burel by 7-5,6-3, and next up for her is the Brit, Katie Boulter. However, before hitting the courts for her next match, Gauff was spotted hitting a soccer ball on the tennis court!
Recently the WTA’s official page shared a video clip of Coco Gauff. In that clip, she was spotted turning the tennis court into a soccer ground along with some of her teammates. They captioned that post with, “Can we join?” Some of the spectators were spotted capturing this rare moment on their cameras and mobile phones. Coco Gauff never misses a chance to be creative, right? Fans poured a lot of love on that post.
However, this isn’t the first time that we’ve witnessed Coco Gauff flaunting her soccer skills! In June 2023, she shared an Instagram story, sharing a light-hearted moment while showcasing her soccer skills. At that time, she hilariously poked fun at herself while awkwardly attempting to kick the soccer ball. Then again during the Indian Wells Masters this year, Gauff was spotted having fun playing soccer with her team.

Coco Gauff loves trying out different sports since her childhood days. Sports run in her family, for example, her father, Corey was a basketball player in his college days, and her mother, Candi was also a collegiate swimmer. Even her brothers, Codey and Cameron have a passion for sports right from a very young age. Here’s what Coco Gauff said while speaking about how their parents encouraged them to play multiple sports.
“I think I would have been a good 400 runner” – Coco Gauff
Once during an interview, Coco Gauff revealed that she had fun practising different types of sports. In fact, she mentioned how grateful she is to her parents for encouraging her to try things rather than just sticking to one specific field. “My parents always never wanted me to specify in a sport, which is why when I was 13, I knew that I was going to play tennis, but they still put me in basketball and track. I ended up missing my All-Star game because I had to play the junior US Open. I made the finals of that tournament.” Her brother, Codey chose competitive baseball while her little brother, Cameron balanced multiple sports including football and tennis.

Sports truly runs in the blood of this family! Coco Gauff also has a special affinity towards the track. “I did do track and basketball. I really love track. I think I would have been a good 400 runner,” she said once during an interview. In the off-season, fans often find her trying multiple such activities including some running or swimming to keep herself fit and active throughout that period. Once she even wanted to try out boxing, but she said that the timing with the instructor never really worked out for her.
While Gauff is interested in other sports apart from tennis and is enjoying her time off the court, she would also want to be focused on court, as she aims for the China Open title. Do you think she can do it?
