Who says tennis tournaments have to be all work and no play? If that was the case, Coco Gauff wouldn’t be chilling after tending to her season-opening Slam commitments at the Australian Open. Following an emphatic start to her Melbourne singles campaign, the American star laid back and took her affairs to a cinema house. Consequently, she revealed a fact about herself!

Gauff, who is the third seed at the ‘Happy Slam’, faced minimal resistance during her opening round showcase at the Rod Laver Arena as she overpowered countrywoman Sofia Kenin to register a straight-set victory, 6-3, 6-3. Impressive indeed, seeing as she struggled with serving woes during last year’s American swing. She has seemingly prevailed over those concerns by taking advantage of her latest alliance with technique correctional specialist Matt Daly.

Following her R1 triumph and a two-day break before she heads for her second round contest, Gauff visited a cinema in Melbourne for the animated movie ‘Mufasa – The Lion King’. The American star later took to her official Instagram handle and addressed how she always chooses to watch a movie if she has an early match at tournaments. She also noted her thoughts on the movie, which has already received positive feedback from movie critics.

She said, “This outfit, I’m a huge Marvel fan and a lot of the female superheroes have cool cutouts on their outfits, so that’s what I wanted to do. New Balance has great designers. It’s kind of a pain to get into because it is a bodysuit, so I have to put the bottom part on first and pull it over my head, so it’s kind of a struggle. If you can’t hold your bladder, it’s also not a good idea, but you have to sacrifice for fashion. Then the skirt, I like to wear cargo pants, but I’m not going to play tennis in pants, so we make a cargo skirt.”

Next up, Gauff will square off against Briton Jodie Anna Burrage for a place in the Slam’s third round on Wednesday, January 15 at Melbourne Park.
