Life in the Gauff household is anything but boring. With two younger brothers—Codey and Cameron—stirring up daily doses of chaos, Coco Gauff’s world is a whirlwind of laughter, banter, and stolen hoodies. The 21-year-old tennis phenom may be carving out her legacy on the court, but back home, she’s simply the eldest sibling trying to keep up with the madness. But amidst this chaos is lots of warmth and comfort. The American tennis starlet recently opened up about how much her siblings mean to her.

Her younger brothers have taken their own athletic detours. Codey, the middle child, is a baseball enthusiast, while the youngest, Cameron, is all about variety—he’s tried his hand at football and tennis. Different sports, same energy. And through it all, their bond remains unshakeable, built on inside jokes, friendly roasts, and the kind of loyalty that no match win or loss can shake.

That kind of grounding presence matters, especially when you’re balancing drop shots and fashion drops. Coco Gauff teamed up with New Balance and high-fashion label Miu Miu—yes, the one helmed by Miuccia Prada—for a bold new venture that blends athletic wear with luxury style. Gauff didn’t just lend her name to the project; she rolled up her sleeves and got involved every step of the way. But as she continues to rise higher, who’s making sure she keeps her feet on the ground?

In an interview with Vogue, she said, “My brothers, Codey and Cameron are definitely my biggest support, and they always root for me. And humble me. When I do well, they’re still going to make fun of me. And when I do bad, they’re still going to make fun of me.” That blend of support and reality check is what keeps her grounded. As Coco put it, “Sometimes, when you’re competing, you feel like you’re putting your whole life into whatever match you’re playing and that the odds are life or death, that’s what’s on the line. But obviously, it’s not. Having people like them around makes you feel that pressure less.”

Her Instagram often offers fans a front-row seat to this sibling dynamic. One of the most memorable moments? A story featuring Codey and Cameron accidentally twinning in black outfits. Codey sparked a hilarious debate by declaring, not all black clothes are equal. “It’s like comparing a Toyota to a Ferrari,” he said. Naturally, Cameron fired back, refusing to be labeled the Toyota in the analogy. Coco, never one to miss a punchline, captioned the video: “They accidentally matched again 😭

That’s not all. Last year, Coco caught Codey wearing her missing hoodie, months after she’d stopped looking for it. Not one to let it slide, she shared a picture of him rocking the stolen piece with the caption, “He stole my hoodie but go like his photo or whatever. My hoodie was missing for months and he just pops options on da gram with it.”

Another thing that centers the 21-year-old is her faith.

Coco Gauff Opens Up About the Faith That Grounds Her

The Delray Beach native has never been shy about her spirituality. It’s a steady undercurrent in her life, both on and off the court. She grew up going to church, a tradition that hasn’t faded despite her growing global fame. Her spiritual practice includes listening to worship music and reading the Bible whenever she can find the time.

This isn’t a recent development. In a 2019 interview with The New York Times, Coco Gauff shared how prayer is a pre-match ritual. The former US Open champion said, “Before every match since I was 8, my dad and I say a prayer together. We don’t pray about victory, just that me and my opponent stay safe. After the match, I was just thanking God for this opportunity.”

That grounding force remains central in her life even now. In her Vogue feature, she expanded on how faith shapes her mindset. The 21-year-old said, “Sometimes you also feel like your whole identity is tied to your results. But the more focused I am on faith, too, I realize I’m much more than my sport. It’s something that makes me thankful–if I don’t win another tennis match ever again, I still have a lot outside of it to look forward to.”

Yet even with a strong support system and spiritual center, challenges on the court persist. Gauff holds a 14-6 record for the season, but the recent stretch has been bumpy, just five wins in the last three months. She’s looking to reset at the Madrid Open, marking her fifth appearance there. The best she’s done? Round-of-16 finishes in 2022 and 2024.

Her campaign this year kicks off against Dayana Yastremska in the second round. Whatever the scoreboard says, she’s already winning where it matters most. Can Coco channel that energy and finally make a deep run in Madrid?
