“I’m done wasting my time,” Coco Gauff made her sentiments very clear for TikTok, few days ago, despite being an avid user of the popular social media app. It attracted over 170 million people in the United States. But now it’s time to say goodbye to the app, following a nationwide ban. It comes after a decision of the Supreme Court on Friday owing to security concerns. TikTok went offline in the country on Saturday night. Now the 2023 US Open winner has mourned the loss with a four-word tribute, following her fourth round victory in the 2025 Australian Open on Sunday.
“Sorry, TikTok isn’t available right now. A law banning TikTok has been enacted in the U.S. Unfortunately, that means you can’t use TikTok for now,” read the message to visitors who won’t be able to download or use it anymore, according to CNN on January 18. As of now, it’s not available on the Apple’s App Store or the Google Play Store.
Coco Gauff, after registering a three-set win over Switzerland’s Belinda Bencic in the Australian Open third round at the Rod Laver Arena, wrote a message on the lens of the courtside camera. The message was about TikTok, after the ban came into effect following the Supreme Court’s decision. The 2024 WTA Finals winner simply wrote, “RIP TikTok USA” while drawing a broken heart before saying, “I think I’m going to go with this one,” as reported by Associated Press on Sunday.

Gauff already knew her time was over on TikTok. When the rumors were floating of TikTok’s potential ban, which is now in effect, she had revealed her unfiltered thoughts. During a press conference, following her second round Australian Open win, she said, “Yeah, I am following it. Yeah, I feel like this is the third or fourth time this has happened, so I’ve kind of like, this time just was like ‘whatever’. If I wake up and it doesn’t work, fine. I’m done wasting my time.” According to her “people always gonna migrate to other app” and that’s why she’s basically unfazed amid the ban on the platform.
But what will Gauff do now after TikTok’s departure? Well it seems she’s already found an alternative. No, it’s not another social media app but a reality TV show called The Bachelor.

Coco Gauff never got to know about The Bachelor, an American reality TV show, that started in 2002. Now it’s returning with its 29th season later this month on January 27. But why’s Coco Gauff so excited to watch it all of a sudden? Well, the reason happens to be her friend Bailey Taylor Brown. She has joined the cast of The Bachelor this time as a contestant.
Bailey will be among the 25 women who will try to win the heart of former Bachelorette contestant Grant Ellis. Bailey, who happens to be a social media manager, took to her Instagram on January 7 and revealed the news. “All for the love of the game 🏀 see you Monday, January 27th at 8 pm 😉♥️,” she wrote. Knowing that her friend is in the show, how could the 20-year-old WTA pro miss out on watching her? She’s already marked the date for The Bachelor’s premiere.
While she’s no idea of the show’s history and the format, Gauff is ready to tune in this year to for her friend. “I’m sat! never watched the show before but will be!!!!” she wrote in an Instagram story few days back. But this isn’t the first time she’s come forward to support her friend. Back in 2023, she urged her fans on TikTok to follow Bailey and wrote, “If you guys don’t know who Bailey is, you should go follow her because she’s literally my Alix Earle. I love her content. She’s my friend’s big sister and I love her.” as reported by Bachelor Nation on January 8.

But there’s still time in the show’s premiere, which means Gauff’s current focus is only on her 2025 Australian Open journey. She’s going from strength to strength in the first Major of the season down under. After conquering Belinda Bencic on Sunday, she will now head into the quarterfinal round against Spain’s Paula Badosa on Tuesday. Do you think Gauff will be able to maintain her unbeaten run in Melbourne against Badosa? Let us know in the comments below.
