Luisa Stefani- Gabriela Dabrowski gave a walkover to Coco Gauff-Caty McNally in US Open Semi-Finals
During their semi-final matchup against Brazil’s Luisa Stefani and Canada’s Gabriela Dabrowski, the all-American duo gave a tough fight in the opening set and took it to a tie-breaker.
Stefani and Dabrowski were leading the scoreboard with a quick 2-0 lead in the breaker. Just when they were expected to pounce on the minibreak, an unfortunate incident turned the whole match around.
Luisa Stefani was moving to the side and turned backwards to see the shot made by her partner Dabrowski. During that turnover, the Brazilian twisted her right knee and fell on to the net. Despite the medical officials best efforts, Stefani couldn’t get up without support.

The Brazilian looked to be dealing with a great deal of pain as she and partner Dabrowski decided to walk away from the semi-final matchup. After achieving a career-high ranking of No.17 in doubles, this was Stefani’s first grand slam semi-final match.

It was an unfortunate end to a great run by both Luisa Stefani and Gabriela Dabrowski. As Stefani was carried in a wheel chair from the court, there was a huge cheer from the crowd at Louis Armstrong stadium as they applauded the pair for putting up an amazing contest so far at the tournament.
Coming to Coco Gauff and Caty McNally, the all-American duo proved their worth by outlasting the top seeds Su-Wei Hsieh and Elise Mertens in the quarter-final couple of days ago.
Having advanced to the finals as a result of an unfortunate walkover, Gauff-McNally will now face Samantha Stosur and Shuai Zhang. Coco Gauff has now made her debut in a grand slam final.
