It’s time for the pre-quarters of the Wimbledon Championships 2021 and fans witnessed an intriguing match in the doubles category. After getting eliminated from the singles category, Coco Gauff got eliminated in the doubles category as well along with her partner Caty McNally. They lost the match against the Russian pair of Veronika Kudermetova and Elena Vesnina. The final scoreline of the match was 6(0)-7(7), 6-4, 3-6.

Set-1: Veronika Kudermetova and Elena Vesnina win in the tie-breaker

The American pair of Coco Gauff and Caty McNally got off to a poor start as the Russians broke in the very first set. However, the Americans equalized the scoreline soon at 1-1 by breaking back in the very next game.

The one who served continued to win the games till the scoreline became 6-6 and the set reached the tie-breaker. It was going head-to-head and both World No.39 Gauff and her opponent Kudermetova were really playing some good rallies.

The Russian pair of Veronika Kudermetova and Elena Vesnina completely dominated the entire tie-breaker and won it 7-0. As a result, they took away the set 7-6.

Set-2: Coco Gauff and Caty McNally strike back

The American pair got off to a great start in the second set and broke in the first game. They won the following service game and established a 2-0 lead over the Russians.

Even though Kudermetova and Vesnina earned a break-point each in the fifth and the tenth game, they failed to capitalize on it on both occasions. Therefore, no pair was able to break afterward- meaning the American pair won the set 6-4. Both of them were now just one set away from entering into the quarters of the Wimbledon Championships 2021.

Set-3: Final Nail in the coffin of Coco Gauff and Caty McNally

The Russian pair began the set on a high note as they won the first set quite easily. However, the Americans regained their momentum and won the next game to level the scoreline. They broke in the next game but the Russian broke back to equalize the scoreline again at 2-2.

The Russian pair broke yet again in the 8th game when the scoreline was 4-3 in their favor and as a result, was now leading 5-3. They didn’t waste much time, won the set 6-3 in the very next game and thus, conquered the match,
