She stated, “I try to always be very aggressive and take some time away. Looks like Coco doesn’t really like it. We had some good battles in the past, and I always try to go as much as I can with confidence and conviction in my shot. To have a tie record with Coco gives me confidence that I have to go for it, especially after the match yesterday with Naomi.”

Garcia, before facing Gauff, also defeated the Japanese tennis player Naomi Osaka to reach the quarter-final round of the tournament. But apart from that she also revealed that it was her luck that helped her during the match, when things went a little bit on the opponent’s side.

Did luck help Garcia win against Gauff?

In the first set, Caroline Garcia held off Coco Gauff without facing a break point, despite her excellent serve early in the match. Not only that, the Frenchwoman showed her tenacity in the vital first game of the decisive set when she successfully saved against four break opportunities.

She stated, “I think I stayed positive and optimistic about my serve. The first game of the third set was quite important for me and maybe for her also and I got a little bit lucky because my forehand was catching the line but also I went for it, so maybe it’s my reward.”  Her positive attitude towards the game and the belief in herself that she could achieve victory against her definitely contributed to her Miami Open run.
