Tennis is one of the sports where you are never free from drama. A recent series of events suggests an ugly feud between two coaches. The two coaches in question have coached some of the biggest names in tennis, including Serena Williams and Naomi Osaka. But who are the two coaches?

Patrick Mouratoglou and Sascha Bajin are the two men in question. Bajin coached Naomi Osaka from 2017 to 2019 and has currently joined Karolina Pliskova’s team. On the other hand, Mouratoglou was a part of Serena Williams’ team from 2012 to 2022. During that period, Mouratoglou also coached renowned stars such as Coco Gauff, Stefanos Tsitsipas, and Simona Halep. Currently, he is only coaching the young Dane Holger Rune.

For starters, the dispute was not something people saw it coming. However, Sascha Bajin’s recent Instagram story suggests that Mouratoglou pulled the trigger button. Bajin posted a screenshot of him getting blocked by Mouratoglou.

He used an emoticon that suggested that he did not see it coming. At the same time, Bajin and Mouratoglou did not always get along well. They were not usually on the same page when it came to expressing their opinions on the sport.

In fact, Bajin was questioning some of the non-fact-based opinions of the French coach a few months ago on Twitter. He clearly was not happy with Mouratoglou’s take on WTA being financially weak as compared to the ATP.

How is Williams a common connection between the two coaches?

As mentioned before, Patrick Mouratoglou was Serena Williams’ coach for close to ten years. Well, Sascha Bajin, before becoming a coach himself, used to serve as a hitting partner for WTA players. He dedicated about eight years to Serena Williams before catering to Victoria Azarenka, Caroline Wozniacki, and Sloane Stephens.

However, Bajin was part of Williams’ team for the better part of his post-playing career. The same goes for Patrick Mouratoglou, as most of his coaching years were devoted to Serena Williams. Both Bajin and Mouratoglou were a part of her team at the same point for at least three years.
